Temp to Perm Opportunity!!!

1st shift- $15.58 per hour

JOB FUNCTION:

 

According to established policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreement, operates packaging equipment which forms, fills, and seals finished packages and places them into boxes for shipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Prepares for start-up by turning on overhead conveyor; greases machine; turns

packaging machine heaters on; pulls film through machine; aligns and adjusts for proper

bag registration, price date, back seal, end seals; determines and turns on appropriate

conveyors; turns on storeveyor, vibrating table, incline conveyor, and seasoning line if

needed.

 

Runs pre-determined number of bags off of each line and performs quality checks. Periodically checks package weight, seals, price/date, airfill, and general appearance of bags then makes any appropriate adjustments.

 

Daily changes film rolls, case label rollers, formers, program in computer as needed for

changeovers noted on schedule and cleans area.

 

At the end of the shift run product out of machines, shut off machines and conveyor

systems, turn off air lines.

 

Sets up for the next day by changing printer heads, label rollers, and placing film on

machine.

 

Monitors product level on overhead conveyors and sets conveyor system to match

product need.

 

Weighs scrap film, record results then dispose of scrap.

 

Performs weekly preventative maintenance which includes greasing, checking for worn

parts, cleaning belts, and changing chains.

 

Cleans packaging equipment with appropriate cleaning supplies.

 

Keeps work area clean by picking up trash, sweeping floor, etc.

 

Responsible for meeting efficiency goals as determined by production scheduler.

 

Any other duties as assigned or needed.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:          

 

Ability to ready letters and numbers on all displays, schedules, and labels.

 

Ability to utilize logic when reviewing displays and package quality to determine adjustments to equipment and appropriate communication to supervisors.

 

Ability to perform preventative maintenance tasks.

 

Eye-hand coordination to disassemble and assemble printer rollers, printer heads, and machine parts.

 

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist and up to 40 pounds from shoulder to waist.

 

Ability to physically travel over the entire packaging area including the rollstock storage area.

 

Ability to distinguish visual and audible alarms.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Manufacturing environment with Good Manufacturing Practices requirements such as hair nets, no fingernail polish, eating restricted to lunchroom, no smoking in facility, etc.

 

Floors can be slippery; non slip, closed toe shoes required. Floor drains/grates are located throughout plant.

 

Ear plugs required in all production areas.

 

Plant is not air conditioned but fans and ventilation are provided.

 

Personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, face shield, rubber apron, boots are required to be worn if working with hazardous substances.
