Description

Business Development Manager directs the sales and marketing function. It is the responsibility of the Sales Manager to plan, organize, and implement appropriate sales and marketing strategies that promote the continuous, successful presence and growth of Express within the franchise territory.

The successful Express BDM will gather information about, and become familiar with, a number of subjects, including:

  • Current trends in the staffing industry.

  • The nature of client businesses and personnel needs.

  • What the competition is doing.

  • What sets Express Employment Professionals apart from its competitors.

  • Current and predicted business conditions and trends in the market.

  • Basic employment laws and their application to clients.

Essential Functions:

1.     Directs the sales and marketing efforts of the Franchise

  • Recruits, hires, trains, and manages sales force.

  • Administers the performance management system through regular individual performance appraisals and authorizes compensation adjustments for Sales Representatives.

  • Establishes office and individual sales objectives, administers corrective discipline, and when necessary, terminates Sales Representatives.

  • Regularly accompanies Sales Representatives on sales calls to provide immediate feedback, training, and coaching.

  • Meets with client owners, managers, and department heads to solve problems, ascertain specific needs, and determine essential job function requirements. Communicates client assignment details to internal staff.

  • Develops sales and marketing strategies and tactics and plans, develops, implements, and critiques (measure) sales and marketing efforts.

2.     Directs All Sales and Marketing Activities

  • Establishes sales goals to ensure maximum market share and gross margin.

  • Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to pre-set objectives.

  • Organizes and conducts all marketing and sales endeavors within the Franchise territory. Identifies opportunities by monitoring new business start-ups, move-ins, and expansions.

  • Conducts sales calls with sales representatives, negotiates rates, reviews and approves proposals, and consummates agreements.

  • Conducts sales training meetings.

3.     Directs and Controls All Financial and Administrative Activities

  • Ensures the timely submission of new account credit applications.

  • Monitors and analyzes internal and external factors affecting finances, so that new opportunities may be pursued and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.

  • Maintains confidentiality of processed information.

4.     Client and Public Relations

  • Joins and actively participates in approved civic, professional, and industry organizations to develop personal skills and contacts for future business relationships.

5.     Other Duties

  • Negotiates and closes on placement fees.

  • Other related duties as assigned.
